5 minutes With Peter Morgante

Making up one of the three Directors at LKFS, Peter has helped to build the new LKFS to what it is today – a modern day financial services businesses.
We caught up with Peter to ask him a few questions about his journey, what he’s learned and his advice to anyone who wants to get into the mortgage broking industry.

Tell us a bit about your role and what you do?

I manage all aspects of lending and compliance at LKFS. I ensure I’m across all the lender’s and governing bodies’ products and regulatory requirements.

I also play an active role in writing loans whilst at the same time providing support and training to the other brokers within the office.

What are your specialities?

Residential lending in finance, which I focus most of my time on. From a residential lending manager at CBA to starting at LKFS, my natural progression and interest have always been in this field. Therefore, I continue to focus and strengthen my knowledge in this area.

What’s the best part of your job?

I love that I have a balance where I can continue to assist customers with their financial needs whilst being able to help and support the other brokers in assisting their clients and

Do you have any advice for someone who is thinking about entering the finance broking profession?

You absolutely have to be customer-focused and have a passion in helping people achieve their financial goals. I also believe a skill set essential in this industry is time management. With timeframes being an important part of our day to day tasks, I believe it is a crucial characteristic in this role.

You may not have had experience or study in finance however, if you have those two characteristics, I believe it will go a long way for those considering this profession.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt as a Director at LKFS?

The most valuable lesson I have learned is to balance my two roles (Finance Director and Finance Broker) and acknowledge that different situations require a response reflective of that role. It’s a juggling act and I am still learning.
